What is the point of the DU "buddy list" ? |
|
If I add someone to my buddy list - what's that do for me? Or them?
Is it just to make myself feel special - seeing a list of names officially designated my buddies?
I've tried to figure this out to no avail.
Someone's gotta know!

1. easier access to folk you might converse with outside of threads |

otherwise, say I want to send a message to a DU friend, I'd have to search for their name in a thread to send an IM. If they are on my Buddy List I just click on that to find them.

it's one of those nice little enhancements DU constantly adds! There's not too much they don't think of which is why I have no problem donating in each DU Fund Drive. :)

4. For example, when I spot a new Minnesota poster |
|
I put him/her on my buddy list. Then when there's a Minnesota DU gathering, it's easy to send an invitation to everyone on my buddy list.

5. I use mine for a reverse-buddy list |
|
I put people on mine that I'm keeping an eye on, rather than on ignore, then later see if they have been tombstoned. I guess I have people-I-want-to-PM names in my inbox mail since I save that, so don't use the buddy list to keep their names handy. I'm weird I know, but there you are. Dang I sound like my father sometimes.
