academic work in psychology at the graduate level. I never pursued it as a career, but it's still interesting to me and I find it helps in my work from time to time.

I use traditional historical documentary sources, anthropology, and archaeology in my studies of American Indians.
As for achaeology, I specialize in lithics analysis, but have dabbled a bit in ceramic analysis. I prefer lithics :-)

Flakes tell us much about what technological knapping method was used, as well as (usually) when it was used. Their distribution tells us much about site use and type.
Anyway, yes, they are almost crystal-ballish in their analysis.
And, indeed, I am a flake flake! :-)
