My heart goes out to those soldiers. They have to do their work with no shade, wearing body armor.

2. Too bad we can't send Donald "militarily insignificant" Rumsfeld...

... to spend a few months in those conditions. He could learn a thing or 2.

3. I feel the same way

They shouldn't be there in the first place and I know everyone is getting more pissed with each passing day.

If you want to help, this soldier's mom is buying air conditioners and other supplies to send over. I gave 20 bucks because even though this is a volunteer military, these soldiers didn't ask for this mess and now they're truly stuck. I just wish they could all come home. :(

5. Thanks for the links...

... Looks like they're doing good work. I'm about to sink even more heavily into debt... looks like my car might have been totalled in my g/f's recent accident and I shudder to think of the pittance my insurance company is gonna settle for (and even if it isn't totalled, I've got a $1000 deductable.. ugh).... so I can't exactly donate right now, but I did add a link to my rotating "banner" text on EOTE. Maybe, just maybe, somebody else will donate as a result of that link. :)

9. Thank you, that's so sweet of you!
I'm so sorry you're going through such a hard time though. I was going through something very similar a few years ago. Couldn't even afford to buy food at one point. I don't recommend that diet.
It is amazing how things turn around though.
I trust that will happen for you and I hope your girlfriend is okay.
Try to remain positive and keep your sense of humor. Not trying to sound like Pollyanna over here but it's true. It will get better. :)

11. Thanks...

... and yeah, I'm definitely keeping my spirits up. Actually this year is going a lot better than last year. On New Years Eve (Dec 30, 2001), I had my own car accident (my first and only still), and that pretty much set the tone for the year during which I lost one of my best friends (he didn't die, was just sick of dealing with my shit), completely ran out of work, etc.

Started off this year by going back to school (loving it), and life just generally seems better. I guess creating a future for myself rather than just letting my life spiral downhill helps.. :)

Every so often, all of life starts to seem a bit overwhelming, but usually pausing for a moment and taking a nice, deep breath helps with that.

BTW, my g/f is fine. Her chest still hurts a little where she got bruised by the seatbelt, but otherwise she seems to be over the accident, both physically and emotionally. Now if we could just figure out how to sell her paintings... hehe.

7. Yeah... it is...

... damn hot... most of inland California is extremely hot, actually, except for the mountains.

Heck, I'm only about 15 miles from the beach, but thanks to the fact that I'm in a valley and have "mountains" between me and the coast... it gets f***ing HOT here, too.

8. What's up with this?
It says that there is only one reply to this thread in the subject listing, but I see several here.

Anyway, yes, I agree with you. They are stuck in misery and the Bush administration doesn't give.
