So I finally took off a sick day from work |

the thing is I've been sick several times, but everytime I was they would tell me how desperate they were for help and I'd give in considering I was only stuffed up with chunky green muucus and capable of both standing and walking while feeling like shit.
Ah, but that's life in a low-skill service oriented job (and I've been told most blue-collar and white-collar jobs as well). In any case I'm going to go play my guitar.
On edit: And would you believe some guy was telling me how they should lower the minimum wage. I forget the exact thrust of his argument, but basically it was "if you want to make a living wage you should acquire more skills"

I've talked to the same guy. I'm an educated but nonetheless unemployed schmuck (BA, MA, MBA, JD). It is no different in a white-collar job. Although there are some employers who will pay an outrageous sum of money to fill a job if they are desperate. Thing is, they will turn around and can you when they are able to replace you with someone cheaper. And here in employment at will JOklahoma they don't even have to make up an excuse.
