BUMP THIS plz -- FUNDAY (June 18) reminder for one and all
Edited on Tue May-31-05 01:40 PM by 5thGenDemocrat
FUNDAY is finally upon us.
In less than three weeks, we'll be holding the whing-dinginest party you've ever seen right here in Saginaw, Michigan (as always, The Center of the Universe). The house renovation is nearly done (as done as we're going to get it), the beer and food have been ordered and the FUNDAY RADIO disc is done.
Now -- do I have your email address so I can send you directions? I don't want to leave anyone out because they don't know how to get here. DUmail me and I'll send my phone number along.
Who can offer rides to fellow DUers? Carpooling is encouraged.
Who is bringing another DUer along? Let me know, so I can compile a DU roster.
Who needs overnight accomodations? We can provide them.
Who needs more info on the party? Now is the time to ask questions -- I'll be checking this thread out and will be happy to provide the answers.
And, finally, head on over to the Michigan forum -- there's a 70-odd post thread going on over there with a whole bunch of information.
I'm looking forward to meeting whichever DUers can make it. I'm expecting a dozen or so -- but we're all hoping for even more than that.
See you June 18. And bump this once in a while.
John
It is now 17 days, 21 hours and 23 minutes to FUNDAY.

1. Hi, John
I think we've decided not to stay over, so we won't be needing accommodations. At only a 2-hour drive, we'll just drive back home that night. I think you have my e-mail address to send directions.

If you hear of anyone from the Detroit area (esp. around Royal Oak, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Berkley, Oak Park, Southfield, Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield, etc.) who needs a ride, let me know.

In the past, haven't you had a lot more than a dozen or so people? Hopefully some people from outside of Michigan will decide to make the trip. It will be fun to finally meet some other DUers.

Sharon

3. Oh ya ya -- we have a LOT more than a dozen at the party
I'd say 80-100 guests is typical. But DUers, as we all know, are a rare and valuable commodity.
As far as out-of-staters, I'm sure Davsand (Illinois) is coming (or I'll cry) and we may have a couple of others -- who have yet to confirm their reservations.
John
And folks in the greater northern Detroit metroplex are encouraged to contact Sharon here for a ride.
It is now 17 days, 21 hours and 13 minutes to FUNDAY.

7. Hi SharonRB
My wife and I are in your neck of the woods. We will be heading to Saginaw Saturday morning and probably staying the night with her parents.
Hope to meet you there.

4. Which reminds me
DUers with confirmed reservations are also encouraged to guilt-out those DUers on the fence. This might best be done by our DUers of the Catholic faith (like me).
John
It is now -- you get the idea. See you June 18!!

What's in it for me? It's a good six hours or so from Chicago to Saginaw, since the government REFUSES to build a fucking bridge across Lake Michigan those goddamn fucking bastard pieces of shit....grumble....

16. Actually, Doc could come into A2 via rail and we'd pick him up
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 02:04 PM by 5thGenDemocrat
At worst, Ann Arbor is less than two hours from Saginaw, Like I said, we could send the chauffeur down to get him.
Davsand did the Chicago/Ann Arbor rail thing two years ago. Worked out well.
John
It is now 16 days, 20 hours and 58 minutes to FUNDAY. We will provide the overnight accomodations AND a free continental breakfast Sunday morning.

9. You're in Chicago now, Doc?
Last I remember, you were in Terre Haute. Davsand's coming up from west of Indianapolis (you remember where) -- maybe you two could split the ride.
Also, there are direct (cheap) flights from Chicago to either Saginaw (MBS) or Flint (Bishop) airports. I can have my chauffeur pick you up. Man, it'd be great if you could make it -- especially since you and I met Kheph together way back when.
Keep me posted. Polly says hi.

14. And, if you think MICHIGAN is fun
Wait until you see Saginaw. Hometown of Question Mark and the Mysterians, Stevie Wonder, Theodore Roethke and Law and Order's own S Epatha Merkerson.
We have a river that flows north and the world's largest pink neon jack rabbit (ask -- we'll show it to you Saturday night when it's all lit up. By then, we probably will be, too.).
Sure hope to see many, many DUers here. And check that thread in the Michigan forum for much more about all this.
John

Check your inbox -- I sent you a note. As the date gets closer, let me know your plans. I'll send along directions to the soiree (not difficult). Hope to meet you then.
John
