was Mark felt ever considered a major candidate for Deep Throat
by investigators?

I have heard people speculate Kissinger (whose voice would make the name approproriate, as well as his back stabbing persona), Pat Buchanan (who despite his political views being reactionary seems to be an honest guy), and all manner of other people suggested. Never had I heard of Mark Felt (at least I didn't remember him).

Has Woodward confirmed this?

1. Yes
Why Did Bob Woodward Lunch With Mark Felt in 1999?
Was it to ask if he could unmask Deep Throat?

Deep Throat?

Deep Throat?
• FBI Theory
• CIA Theory
• White House Theory
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/onpolitics/watergate/deepthroat.html

In his article, Mann said three FBI officials confronted Gray and protested what they saw as the White House's interference with the bureau's Watergate probe. They were W. Mark Felt, FBI deputy associate director (and known by reporters as someone willing to take their calls); Charles W. Bates, the assistant director in charge of the FBI's general investigative division; and Robert Kunkel, the special agent in charge of the Washington, D.C., field office. Mann identified all three as Deep Throat suspects.

3. Aparently he was one of many, and no Woodward has not confirmed.
I personally don't think Felt was Deep Throat. I posted this on another thread...Why would Bob & Karl have kept this secret sooo long if Deep Throat wasn't a well known person and the info would have been a real shocker?

How many people ever even heard of Felt?

5. well, they kept it secret out of Deep throat's wishes
and Felt was a top fellow at the Bureau, so he might not want to be known as a leaker, so people would trust him with confidential stuff.

4. The whole "who is 'Deep Throat'" is and remains speculation . . .

The whole "who is 'Deep Throat'" is and remains speculation!

Did you read the Slate online article where all this speculation started attempting to build innuendos upon innuendos into a "truth" about ex-3rd in FBI command, Mark Felt, who is now senile and 91? It's mere speculation upon speculation, and then the rest of the so-called "news media" picks it up thereby "authenticating" it.

In America, today, the more different "news media" repeats a story -- no matter how untrue or speculative -- it then becomes a "truth." How stupid are we, Americans, anyway?

BTW, Woodward has vowed NEVER to reveal who Deep Throat is, until Deep Throat dies. Think about it. Felt is alive, correct? Well?

6. I also read an article today that said Felt admitted to being part
of the investigation and to putting the whole mess together, but he DID NOT LEAK any info. Somehow that's being ignored!
