Are there any men here who were raised primarily by women?
ie: grandmothers, mom, sisters? Just surrounded by women?

I've always wondered what affect that has on guys. My brother was like that. We had a stepdad, but he wasn't around much. My brother was SO ruled by me (older sister), our mother, and there were only girls on our street for ages. And the girls on the street were my age, none of them had a brother, so they took to bossing him around like I did.

That poor kid.

Well, he's 32 now, not a kid. And you know what? He's got a wife and DAUGHTERS.

(Yes, this is a spin-off of another thread, but I really have always wondered what it's like for a guy to be surrounded by only women growing up....if that has any kind of affect and if so what? Positive? Negative? Neutral?)

1. Mom and dad split when I was 5.
Dad stayed in my life always, but I was raised by mom, grama and the aunts (mom had 7 sisters). I have 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister. I have no idea how that changed my life.

2. I was raised around primarily women
If you don't count my Scoutmaster and later, Marine corps drill instructors, I think it had a very positive effect. I turned out marvelously.

Seriously though I think kids need both male and female role models while growing up. I can tell you that I enjoy being in the company of women more than men (although that may be natural) dono.

3. i had a dad but there was my
mom, two grandmothers, one good sister, and one evil sister.i guess i was raised by more ladies than men. one thing that i am for ever grateful to my dad for- the pleasure of having a detached garage where we could hide from the woman and work on cars...
