Tales from the 'burbs- The Ice Cream man may be a crackhead

So late Sunday afternoon after finally finishing moving everything out of the old place my wife and I sit back (me with a cold beverage) and are just talking about this and that when both of us look at each other and say "Is that???"

!!!ICE CREAM MAN!!!!

Well my wife can't have ice cream and I didn't really want any but we walked out outside and under the setting sun I put my arm around here as we gazed upon yet another wonderful surprise from our new neighborhood.

Kids were laughing and running around with there ice cream truck that was parked on the north side street of our lot. The truck pulled forward and took a left headed in front of our rental house and then stopped. Then it backed up in front of the house across the street were there was a fairly big barbecue going on (10-20 people) and I thought he must be trying to get just ONE of those kids out to the truck-the rest will surely follow. Well he didn't wait very long, he backed up, then pulled a little bit forward.....waited a couple of seconds.... then sharply turned the balding, hubcap less tires hard to the left and attempted some sort of a U-turn.

He apparently misjudged it as both tires on the right side of the truck hopped up and across the curb....he drove at least 30 yards down our side yard....the top of the truck careened through a law hanging Maple tree.... several small branches snapped off....he was going at such a great speed that when he turned it back to the left both tires *BLAM* hit back on pavement at the same time....he caught some rubber *SCREEEEEECH*... and took off.

My wife and I watched the whole thing from about 50 yards away. We looked at each other with a WTF? look and then started cracking up. We walked over and picked up the limbs. It was a scene right out of "Funny Farm".

I noticed this one time. I had an upper flat, so I was on my balcony one day looking down at the street. The ice cream man was shooting dice behind the truck with some of the neighborhood guys.
