so i watched "Phantom of the Opera" last night...

well, i try to keep it brief...

Gerard Butler is pretty hot with his half-face... nice lips... can't sing for shit...

Emmy Rossum is beautiful...

my only complaint it that it's like 141 minutes too long...

and... oh, yeah... there are too many FUCKING SONGS... just when you are hoping (praying) for like 5 or 10 minutes of dialog, they launch into another one...

I loved it.

I saw the movie about a week ago. And YES, it was very, very loooooong. I kept looking at the clock waiting for it to end.

I guess it's better to watch it live than the movie.

Weber hasn't done any original composing since Evita. Very sad. He was so promising in the 70's, but all his stuff afer that was just re-hashing of older composers.

My Mom is a huge Gerard Butler fan, so I was treated to a showing. I literally burst out laughing when the disco drums erupted during the gondola ride. :)

I think it was a very poorly directed film. Schumaucher (or any other director) should have insisted that ALW hand over complete creative control -- the film suffered terrible because it was unable to transcend its theatrical roots. And yes, Gerard is hunky but can't sing worth a damn. The only performance standout was Minnie Driver - but only in a completely campy way.

Lots of pretty pictures to view, but one shouldn't be forced to watch an "operetta" with the sound off.

It is one of my very favorite musicals -- totally original, electric, and moving. Poor JCM -- what on earth do you do after "Hedwig"??? :)

I don't even like Grease because I went to the re-release a few years ago with all the hardcore fans that sang and danced along with the movie. It was like Rocky Horror Picture Show fans
