Most. Addictive. Game. Ever.
There's nothing like laying in a 20 gun broadside into a Spanish Treasure Galleon.

2. Is this the original or the new one? |
|
I remember playing pirates waaaayyyy back. . .then one day I saw CONQUEST OF THE WOLRD which had pirates, railroad tycoon and 2 other games for $5.
I picked this puppy up and became addicted to Rail Road tycoon (now in its 3rd version) and have been waiting for the latest pirates game to go to a decent level. . .ah the memories. . .

What is your opinion of it? It seems like it just might be the time waster I'm looking for.
Oh, and I played Pirates on my Sega Genesis -- by far my all-time favorite game (except maybe Wizardry I). I bought the new one when it first came out, and had to stop playing it; it was interfering with my work and family, which is the sign of a really good game!

5. I LOVE Alpha Centauri! |
|
I wish he'd do an update of it. I loved how you could construct your own armaments. Plus, turning an ugly planet into a lush forest was pretty cool too. :)

A bit cartoony, and to succeed at dancing you pretty much have to keep it at the beginner level, but it's still fun. I particularly love fucking the damn Spaniards over any chance I get.

8. Dancing was hard when I first started playing the game... |
|
... but it's pretty darn easy even at the harder levels now that I'm used to it. There's a patch out for the game, if you haven't DLed it already. I think they lower the difficulty on dancing a tad.

9. I really like this game... |
|
... I've replayed it a few times but it can get boring after a while. I think I've pretty much tried everything. The most fun I had was conquering the entire Caribbean for the French. In my most recent save, I have a fully-upgraded Ship of the Line and am virtually unstoppable.
I've long been into pirate history in the Caribbean and yes, even though this game is considerably Flynnish, I love all the little details like chain-shot and cotton sails and simply just visiting port after port.
I would love to see a *GOOD* MMORPG set in the Pirates setting... I know there's a Pirates of the Caribbean MMORPG in the works so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
On a side note... best game manual I've seen in a looooooong time. And the included paper map is icing on the cake. :)
