So, what are you sensitive about?
I'm sensitive about three things. My weight (I could stand to lose about 30-40 pounds) and when I may be annoying someone while talking too much. As well, rejection is a big deal for me. Those are the ONLY three things I seriously can't laugh about.. I really can't.
You?

Fools, now I'll know all of their weaknesses! Wait...did I type that, or just think it?

For the sake of my ancestor Patrick - I am.

Alas, I am sensitive about my weight as well. I could stand to gain 30-40 pounds, provided I could do so on my limbs and not my torso. :hide:

I was reading a story today about a guy who's last name is "Mick"

So throughout the story I kept refering to him as "Mick"
Some of the sentences COULD have been considered using mick as a noun as in "Mic" I almost broke out laughing,

18. CaliforniaPeggy, I'm honored. I appreciate your post, a lot.
The only cross words I have are for the folks who drop into Elections and behave in an uncivil fashion. Then it's time, with the rules of DU of course, to administer some intellectual discipline.

My DU taste must be improving since I seem to run into you more.

Remember, "Pitt's luck you even know his name."

Is it their guilty consciences?

Even when I was an omnivore I never did that, and now some of my friends raise their eyebrows in that "oh boy" way...like being a vegetarian is some sort of weird thing to do.

Really, I don't even want to speculate. People (meat people) get really upset about this. Why? I don't know.

I gave up meat 19 years ago. If someone asks me about it, I'll tell them. Otherwise? Meh. Not my place.

I sure don't love being called a Nazi, though. Happens more than I like.

I know a few vegetarians...so what if they don't eat meat? It's probably a lot healthier. I've thought of going that way myself, but I've had other things to deal with.

I don't understand why omnivores harass vegetarians and vegans. It's stupid. I think you're right. There's a guilt component in there somewhere.

29. Too many, I'm afraid.
1) Fundies. I was raised by fundies and even though I can laugh at their stupidity, it really hurts me that they seem to be taking over right when I am starting to get rid of all that "you're going to hell if you don't love Jeeeeezus" brainwashing. Also, most of my family are fundies. It's really tough to have any kind of relationship with someone that brainwashed. :(

2) When someone goes out of their way to hurt me or someone else. I recently discovered I can pull out the big guns if I need to, but I have to caution myself not to go too far or mess with the wrong person (sociopath). I got cyber-stalked by someone who was into hurting other people. Don't try this at home.

3) Right-wingers. It's just not funny anymore. Sorry. :(

31. Only really innaccuracy or stupidity
If you wish to disagree with me - that's fine, if you want to be vehement about it - that's fine; just don't use crappy false arguments.

It actually iritates me even more when those I agree with start using crappy or false arguments to defend a position I hold - it makes the person seem really stupid, or makes them into an intellectual whore.

Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 06:05 AM by BlueIris
Even "this long" after the election--just: No. Mind you, I have tolerance for people who can respectfully criticize him for well, things I think it's valid to criticize him for--but I often find myself mentally berating even those folks. And when it's an unsolicited insult--like someone just spontaneously ripping him because they've noticed one of my buttons or bumperstickers? I usually have to give them an icy stare or otherwise physically restrain myself from freaking out. Otherwise, my defense of him will degenerate rapidly into something resembling, "don't nobody say nothing bad about Ms. Jenkins!!!" It's not pretty.

35. Oh, and I forgot: my skin. Not the color, the texture.
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 05:13 AM by BlueIris
So, I don't have perfect skin, okay? Don't give it a second thought. No, seriously, DON'T. There's no need. Didn't your parents tell you it's FUCKING RUDE to point out "flaws" in someone's physical appearance? Don't recommend skin-care products to me, especially if they're prescription drugs. I've tried everything, this is how it looks. And you know, to me, the side-effects, particularly because they fucked up my whole life in some significant, permanent ways, and didn't yield much improvement, weren't worth it. If you don't want to hear about how they could also fuck up your life, or be compelled to more closely examine whether or not taking them is truly worth it to you, (you weak-willed, superficial, non-self-respecting little shit) don't get me started by insulting my skin or my intelligence or my ability to make my own personal health and "beauty" decisions. JUST FUCKING SHUT UP. Care about your own skin. And in general, GET A LIFE.

It's not. 60 is not what it once was - most 60-plus people I know are every bit as active and vibrant as the people I know in their 30s.

My parents are 66. I do not look at them and see old people.

I am sensitive about people thinking I am not being serious enough. I joke about everything and sometimes I worry that it might be over the top...But it's me.

And...let's see. I am pretty sensitive when people bring up what a dork I was as a child. Some things you never get over ;)
