Saw Boogey Man last night. Why make such stupid movies? |
|
Why is it hard to make a good scary movie? They only come once in a blue moon. I am tired of watching crap. Boogey Man had to be one of the dumbest movies ever made! :wtf:

I haven't seen Boogey Man, but I constantly lament the lack of quality horror films being made.

7. I've never seen the point in any of them |
|
Victim (usually female with heels)alone late at night, monster/evil gets them, blood and guts flying all over the place. People become aware there's a monster but still go out alone, victim sees and runs from monster/evil, screaming in heels, falls down and screams till dead. This goes on ad-nauseum till hero enters, slays monster/evil and all is right with the world once again until the sequel.

8. Might I suggest a few films for you to watch |
|
The Shining Rosemary's Baby Jacob's Ladder Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me Lost Highway The Eye Eyes Without A Face Kwaidan The Vanishing (Spoorloos, not the crappy American remake)
Horror isn't just about blood, guts and monsters.

And the wind always got to blowing hard when something bad would happen. It was pretty predictable.

2. I don't think it's a plague unique to horror movies |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 08:41 AM by Vash the Stampede
There's just a lower percentage of horror movies that get made compared to the other crappy movies, and that's why only one decent horror movie seems to come out each year.
On edit: I've come to learn that you should at least check out anything by Lion's Gate. They seem to be emerging as the pre-eminent horror studio.

|

I'm on a constant quest for quality horror. I'll be sure to keep Lion's Gate in mind.
Edit: I just checked Apple's Trailers page and Lion's Gate is the studio producing Rob Zombie's next film, which I have high hopes for.

She can't be frightened, or anything, at all, by any movie.

15. There are a few movies that give me the chills. |
|
But none of the crap they make these days does much for me. I love a good scary movie. I watch most all that come out in hopes of finding one that is actually scary.

18. No, it's all SFX, now.... |
|
Maybe that's why I liked "Grudge", it was more story-driven.

The Grudge was awful. It was kinda creepy, but it had no discernable plot.

6. I just watched that movie two nights ago. |
|
One of my local video stores somehow got it a day earlier than the rest. I just don't know what it is with horror movie writers and directors these days. It's as though somehow during the course of making the movie they just forgot to make it scary. Huge chunks of the movie go by with NOTHING happening. I guess they think they are establishing a mood (and there is something to be said for establishing mood) but they really didn't even do that. Everytime I see a movie like this I wonder what the hell film editors are for.

20. Most movies suck, like 98 % of them, regardless of genre |
|
Because the public doesn't want better movies.
