The fan on my laptop has been turning on a lot more than usual lately |
|
The one that turns on to cool the computer down. What could that mean?

5. stop wearing hot pants |

hee hee.
Seriously though - it's usually linked to either CPU or MB temp. Running anything processor heavy when it happens?

10. Not if you can get another motherboard that will work with your hard drive |
|
and if your puter is more than a few years old, that could be an issue. We just had that happen here due to lightning that came in through our broadband line, whacked everything EXCEPT the hard drive, and we had to move the data to another hard drive cause the one we had would not work with the newer motherboard.
It is a racket. Take it in to have it looked at, if you can. A good shop can help you. try not to go to a big chain shop. We have a great repair shop locally, and they all know what the hell they are doing.

7. My dell does that... heres what i do: |
|
The fans can get dust in them and it'll collect.. I've even found cat hair plugging the vents. Take a can of compressed air and blow the fan area and the vents. Should take care of the problem as it does mine every time :)

Fill a sink basin full of water.
Slowly lift up the laptop, disconnecting it first from the power supply, and bring in to the basin. Do not make any sudden movements.
Slowly lower the laptop into the water until it is completely submurged.
Evacuate the building. Get at least 1000 feet away.
Contact Homeland Security and that you have an 11-6G situation. Make sure they know it is an 11-6G and not 11-6T.
Await law enforcement for further instructions.
