Do you love lots of things?
I love lots of things. I say it, too. I don't know why... never thought about it really... used to get teased as a kid ("Well why don't you marry it?") but never stopped.

Today I read a quote wherein someone posited that people who say they love lots of things are not to be trusted in their opinions on anything. I think that's just plain stupid. Well, what I should say is I don't understand that line of thinking at all... but since the sentiment seems to indicate that I'm untrustworthy, I'll stick with calling it stupid, for now at least.

What say you? Agree? Disagree? Don't care?

1. Like I've said to you before, rq....
For every one thing I say I hate, there are ten things I like and four I love.

3. Please tell me you're kidding around...
I'm talking about when I say "I love this tea" or "I love this shirt" or "I love you" to someone I barely know for saying something that I think needs to be said and heard far more often... apparently some believe this cheapens the word "love". I don't get that.

I would assume you were kidding, but the lounge has been weirding me out as of late.

10. I had noi idea what you were referring to.
I'm just defending my obvious crankiness. My friends and acquaintances often put me down because I don't share their opinion on certain cultural totems (ie American Idol, Bright Eyes, Radiohead, etc.) The conversation usually gets de-railed as soon as they say "Oh, you just hate EVERYTHING."

Which is bullshit. I love lots and lots of stuff, stuff that's just not on your limited menu of items.

Anyhow...I know this has NOTHING to do with your question.

I love threadjacking.

5. I don't love lots of things -
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 02:37 PM by sparosnare
I love a few sentimental things. It's not worth it to form attachments to 'things' because that's all they are, things. What I do love are my kids, those around me who make a difference in my life and the experiences I have with them.

As for as the untrustworthiness of materialistic people, who am I to judge? Can't.

12. Not just material things... I should've worded more carefully...
"I love this weather"
"I love the way he sings"
"I love that idea"
"I love that song"

etc...

6. Sounds like that person just isn't living a fun life.
They can't believe that someone could love that many things, because they can't find things that they love.

That would be a sucky existence.

15. Why reserve the love?
I don't like to think they don't have things in their life to love...

I get the impression they want to reserve the love they express, so it's more special, I guess... I obviously don't grok this idea.

7. I love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Toyota....
cats, hats, and bats

pizza, fried chicken, watermelon, and potatoes

BOOKS - fiction, history, biography

music, to sing, to play, to listen, to dance

stuffed animals

and a really fine writing instrument, such as a well-balanced, smooth-writing fountain pen, can bring me to tears, I love it so much.

:bounce:

(How's that for a YES?)

39. Currently, or serially?
Ha!

I'll bet your beat-up Camry runs great.

In Feb. we bought a 2005 Corolla S. The "S" stands for the goofy spoiler. A Corolla with a spoiler  but we really loved the rest of the car so we bought it.

We also have a 1995 Tercel 2-door. It carried us from Southern California to Washington, DC, in September 2000 -- with two cats in the back seat. :mrrowr: Great car.

Before the Tercel I had a 1983 Starlet. Great car.

And my first car was a 1972 Corona Mark II. It was... yellow.

Our next car -- Prius, unless something better comes along.

25. There is NEVER enough love.
Ever. No matter if it is temporary, the weather for example. Love this cool weather!

Love can't be cheapened IMO. I love you all even though I don't know any of you. That is different from my love for my sons who I know better than anyone but that does not mean I can't love you too.

I don't agree when people say that it makes you untrustworthy but I do understand what they mean. Perhaps they just are not capable of opening their hearts enough and appreciating the different degrees of emotion and expression?

:loveya: Really I do.

I tend to think the same thing... that there's no recognition of different degrees and types of love... but how basic is that?
