American Idol fans: could someone explain something to me?
I don't watch the show, simply because I'm not into the whole pop-diva thing.

But I was wondering - each week they do a different genre of music. Have they ever done heavy metal or hard rock?

2. Was it real heavy metal? Or was it that prefab glam crap from the 80's?
Was it Dokken, Winger, Nelson, or Warrant crap stuff?

or was it Slayer, Exodous or another REAL metal cover?

4. I only watched this year
It's basically a pop music show. Popular music in the sense of the radio hardly ever goes to the metal world.
I don't think they have ever done real blues, folk, jazz or anything like that either. Just "pop" and "classic".
I don't understand why people get so up in arms about that show. It is just a talent contest that got pretty popular and no one makes anyone watch it. It's just standard TV fluff. This isn't meant for you, just in general.

5. Not that I know of
Constantine could have attempted it, but I'm glad he didn't if his band's CD is any indicator.

But I thought Bo did Southern rock well - and just his style would have made for a different Idol.
