from the lovely book I mentioned! does not mean the act of deterring!
It's a tongue in cheek book, so funny!
here's some I like:
slubberdegullion, n. A glorious seventeenth century term of contempt (found in Hudibras), apparently meaning a dirty, wretched slob.
kickshaw n. A gimcrack gewgaw. Three weird and wonderful words that merit a wider currency in the spoken language. Kickshaw derives from the French, 'quelque chose', gimcrack possibly from 'gim' (pert)and 'crack' (boaster), and gewgaw possibly from 'givegave' (present). All mean trinket.
the book is by Petew Bowler, I love it!

27. is it super califrag ilisti cexpia ladocious |
|
or is it supercalifragilisticexpialodocius or ... or? (and did you know that "long subject lines require periodic spaces") well, it is in my unabridged dictionary here, but they got the definition wrong. They say "used as a nonsense word by children to express the longest word in the English language" when really it is "the word that describes how good you feel when other words cannot describe it." Or does the word pre-date the movie? My dictionary is from 1966, how old is Mary Poppins?
Anyway, let me try another word - renumeration.

32. gotcha, and no fair editing |
|
it is actually remuneration, even though that makes no sense, considering the meaning of the word numeration, and the non-existence of the word muneration, so you cannot munerate, but you can remunerate.
