What's your favorite defense mechanism?

Personally, I prefer sarcasm.

1. Pick a favorite? I can't.

Sometimes I'm sarcastic. Sometimes I'm passive-aggressive. Sometimes I just go for the ol' silent treatment.

I guess sarcasm is my favorite though. Certainly it's the most common.

4. Some times they can be combined.

Like when I feel sad , but don't want to (because it just gets old after awhile) so instead of feeling sad, I get angry, but then I can't necessarily express my angry to those I may be angry at, so then it turns into just general sarcasm.

6. Avoidance

Well, it's the one I use the most. I don't particularly like that I use it so I'm not sure I would call it my favorite but rather, well worn.

I suppose though it would depend on defence from what; but being English humour is always at hand, and self-deprecatory humour is probably the most powerful sort.
