2. YES!
And then I made it worse by going way overboard trying to explain that it was an accident.

8. I didn't have a chance to explain
You know how you tack on "love you" to the end of a rushed phone conversation with an actual loved one? I said that to someone on the phone after a work-related call. Someone I barely know. I'm really out of it.

14. That is exactly what happened to me
in one of the instances where I misspoke "I love you".

I knew it!

21. Yeah, you would :)
I just called a straight friend's wife "darling sweetheart". I also had the incredibly bad taste to tell her she had gorgeous tits. In public, over Thai food, and yes, I said "tits".

I am such a bad bad man.

Khash.

Were you on a phone at work talking to a customer? And said it instead of "goodbye"?

10. It was someone I've talked to before, but never even met in person.

Whoops! I've done this before I think, but not in such an inappropriate situation.

by saying, "YOU ROCK MY WORLD".

6. no, but I kissed a lady once.
I don't know why, she was really sweet and she was consoling me on the loss of my husband and during our hug, I just kissed her on the lips. I think I did it because she felt motherly to me but I apologised to her for it.

13. Yes. Many times
Once, when i got off a call at work, I told some guy, a MAN who I had never even met, "Bye--I love you".
I had no idea what the fuck happened---I tried to play it off and explain that it was a bizarre accident and not some creepy freudian slip, but I don't know if I convinced him.

I have also had people do it to me.

15. Yep.
Accidentally tacked it onto the phone call once. And I genuinely had no interest in the person I was talking to. Still not sure where that came from.

I also accidentally called one of my teachers "Mom" in high school one time. Took me a while to live that one down...

17. I think it was a cute mistake
Perhaps you made that person's day a bit happier ;-)
I'm sure the person understood that it was a misspeak, when thinking it over.

I understand your embarrasment, though :D

18. No.
I don't say that unless I mean it. There's lust, there's friendship, and the heavy duty stuff is heavy duty. I just don't mess with it unless it's really real there.

23. Yes! And it turned out - not well.
I had a very good male friend (married with 4 kids) and that's ALL IT WAS!

Hadn't spoken to him in a while and he called me up and after a few minutes asked me if I was "mad at him".

I was shocked to hear him say that and blurted out "oh no! I'm not mad at you, I LOVE you!"

I meant "I love you like a brother", but unfortunately didn't tack that on to the end of my sentence.

We never spoke again after that. Ever.
