You know what sucks? My parents' 50th wedding anniversary is coming up
and I want to get them a card from the president. That means that it will be from Bush.

Shit! How I wish Kerry or Clark or someone wonderful were president right now.

1. Would they be happy with it?
That seems to be the crux of the matter.

As an alternative, do you have a Dem governor? Perhaps they would do the same?

8. Yeah, they will be happy with the gesture.
Our governor is Haley Barbour. He's worse than Bush, IMO.

2. My parents would be offended.
Are there any Democratic politicians they admire who might do that for you?

Wonder if he'd sign a card for them.

3. My parents' 49th is coming up
next weekend. If I got them something from the president they would disown me or have me committed.

5. I echo Trof's sentiment.....If you write Bill Clinton and explain. and he
doesn't send a card-I will be amazed and disappointed. It's worth taking a chance.

7. I agree
in my post below I said how the Whitehouse went to trouble to get a card out to my parents in a short time, that's the kind of guy Clinton is.

6. I was lucky cause Bill Clinton was President
when my parents had their 50th my father was so thrilled when he got the card that he actually cried. Also the Whitehouse was really terrific about the whole thing cause you are supposed to request it like weeks ahead of time (we didn't know that). My brother called a few days before and talked to someone and told them how much it would mean to my parents to get a card from President Clinton and they said they would try to get it there in time. It came the day before...we were all THRILLED! :bounce:

10. If I got my parents an anniversary card from Chimpy McCokespoon
they'd probably look at me and say "What the HELL is this SHIT? Is this some kind of JOKE?"

Good luck!

15. We had to do the same thing for DH's parents
Mom has Alzheimers so I don't think it really registered with her. And even though Dad didn't vote for GB, he was proud to get the congratulations from the whitehouse.
