3. Aren't they doing that already?
We've got recruiters now threatening people with jail and offering to help them pass drug tests so they can join.

4. That was policy in the late '60s, early '70s
Get in trouble and the judge gave you a choice.

5. They still do it.
I went to court recently w/ a friend over her ticket. There was a 18 yr old boy there fighting his DWI and MIP (we have a zero tolerance law). He stated that he wanted to go to college after school but was afraid that this would not look good to a recruiter. The judge told him that if he enlisted he would drop all the fines and probation time. The kid agreed. The judge set him a 60 day timeframe to bring his enlistment paperwork into the courthouse or else charges would be brought forward (this is his probation/parole idea I guess).
My best friend and I dropped our jaws when we heard this. We didn't know that this still happened to this day.

Saline County, MO.
