Driving through West Texas we saw 1,000s of Wind Turbines!
Just east of Fort Stockton there were lines of those turbines stretching for miles.

How many? How much energy????

Does anyone know about these beauties?????

BTW we're now on Arizona, what a lovely state!

1. independant farmers cant use any of the energy mills make if they sell any
iff they use any from the mill they cant sell any to the Grid.. they have to sell all of it and buy ALL they use..

Federal court ruling.. is that fascism or what..??

3. Never been - but I've driven around AZ a few times.
Have you both been driving across the country from NC? I missed the story about your trip.

Please tell me you're spending time at the Grand Canyon! (Ever hear from ShakeyDave?) :hi:

10. A private tour?
Now that's a story I hope to hear someday!

If you get a chance to visit Sedona after the Grand Canyon, definitely take the drive through Oak Creek Canyon (89A out of Flagstaff) - you won't regret it.

Have a great time!

11. Driving south to Iraan, Texas
you passdozens of the 60 foot windmill like things on a butte overlooking the highway. No way to say how many because you can't see how far back they go. It reminds me of the scene in the original Planet of ther Apes were you see the X's of wood standing up.

These fields used to be owned by Enron, but I don't know who owns them now. Someone does because they're still turning.

12. There's about a dozen of them just down the road from me...
in Northeast Wisconsin.

I don't understand why people hate them. I think they're smart, clean, economical, and we sure get a LOT of wind off the Lake (Michigan).

And no, I don't buy the argument that they're a hazard for birds.

13. They need to build them here.
My state is sitting on a veritable gold mine of energy opportunity, and there's very little action taking place in the development of wind turbines around here.

SIGH... Guess we'll have to get used to being the SMALLEST STATE by 2050...

14. I've seen them in various parts of Iowa.
In the north here we've got a couple wind farms with plans for more. They could line I-35 with them.
