Have any young males here had UTI's
a friend of mine has one and i dont know a single man who has had one...any input would be great...he has been to a doc so this is not medical advice

1. I know that when I had a UTI once
My husband was also given antibiotics, just in case.

4. They're far less likely to occur in men,
especially young men, than women but it's not unheard of.

6. yes it's rare to hear about them occurring in men
but drinking cranberry juice is supposed to be good in preventing them

7. Yes, there may be some validity to that.
I think it changes the pH of the urine and in so doing makes the bacteria less able to adhere to the urethra causing it get flushed out.

8. I had one once...
...it wasn't too bad, once I got over the bloody urine bit. A couple of days of antibiotics (Cipro?) cleared it up and it never came back. Remind your friend to finish the whole course of medication, even if the symptoms go away...

9. Well I'm younger than 50.
and I've had a UTI. Most painful thing I had and hopefully have for quite some time to come.
