3. Gah. I'm calling bullshit, here.
I'm be no means an astrology expert, but I'm quite conversant with the world of Zodiac romatic match-ups and there's something off with that quiz. I'm a classic Taurus, and have always read/heard/been told that Taureans are most compatible with Cancers, Virgos and sometimes other Taureans. In my life, that has generally actually been true (though I am NEVER, NEVER, NEVER hooking up with a Virgo again--NEVER). For that quiz--I was first told my match was with an Aries. Whatever. Worst. Mate. Possible. Especially because I'm a boring, straight, female Taurus--NOT interested, or compatible with your standard male Aries (example: IMHO, the most typical male Aries on the face of this earth is Tom DeLay and I would clash horribly with that personality type). So, I retook it and varied my answers, thinking I'd answered more truthfully: Aries again. Finally, after retooling my answers once more, I was told to find a Pisces. One of my exes is a fish--the horrifying ex even my distant third cousin knows to refer to as Mr. Unmentionable. So: no. Something is wrong with that little test, there.

self-centered jerk. Many of them are determined, single-minded, driven and tenacious in the most positive sense of those terms. Their agression and ferocity can make them excellent leaders, and I've found that it's sometimes balanced out by a very tender private side. This has been more true among the female Aries I've known, but I know one male Aries who is a total sweetie, with a youthful side that is never immature. It's kind of hard to imagine Tom DeLay being a secret softie, but like I posted earlier, he's the epitome of everything Aries and that includes that sign's negative qualities. There are a lot of Aries figures in the Bush Administration, I've noticed.

WRETECHED. He had that nasty Virgo hypocritical streak (ie; "my room is clean, so it's okay if everywhere else is vile, I'm not doing any housework and I'm insulting the rest of you for how dirty everything is."

And don't even get me started on his OTHER obnoxious personal (and hypocritical) traits: "Yeah, I like sex, in fact, I expect it--ALL THE TIME--from S.O., but only if it's in the dark and I don't have to talk about it later, and only if she does all the work."

I, too, now have a meticulous (nasty trait that roommate imparted to me) ability to "sniff out" a snotty, misogynist, perfectionist, hypocritical male Virgo from a MILE AWAY. Not going near any of THOSE anymore.

19. I apologize to you, too. Sort of. I don't mean that there's anything
inherently wrong with your average Virgo, I'm just not interested in dating one (or being friends with one, or, god forbid, working for one, EVER AGAIN). Some Taureans, I'm sure, get along fantastically with Virgos. I? Do not. Particularly not the ones who are more modest, analytical, or ruthlessly, selfishly competitive (or secretive; or mendacious). FTS. Not developing close associations with anyone I know to be a Virgo anymore. I will almost never allow something like astrology to influence any major life decisions I may make, but I admit--a couple of Virgo's impacted my life in such negative, endangering ways in the past, I can't help but want to be wary of them in the future.

Velma=Libra. :) There are different kinds of compatibility after all.

Anyway, this thing is mostly bullshit. I think it may have confused "who are yoiu attracted to" with "who are you compatible with". I got Cancer as my first result...well, I know I'm attracted to Cancers...I have a string of Cancer exes who fucked me over to prove it. But I sure as hell ain't compatible with 'em.

Plus it's easy to manipulate your answers to get the result you want.

Not that I don't want to--I fucking can't. I've spent my entire Cancer-dreamer-hippie-Moon-worshiping life trying desperately to become an adult, and it just ain't happening. At age 50, I give up. I'm a 14-year-old till I die.

Shit, I'm still enthralled by Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I understand why this wouldn't attract you. But strangely enough, it attracts me--even though I know as deeply as anyone can how dangerous that attraction is. . . .

And I have no one to blame but myself for getting involved with them...I picked guys who weren't "grown up" in that way and I have to figure out why.

43. Actually, I think I do understand.
Cancers aren't emotionally evolved because we're lost in a dreamscape of things-that-might-have-been. We're Trekkies and dreamers and bookish and fanatics of Firefly and Buffy, and we think that life should be this perfect Utopian communal experience. . . .

OTOH, we are very emotional, more emotional in fact than most women can handle. More feminine than most women can handle. Women don't want men who are like them, who cry at sentimental "chick flick" movies and empathize with "women's problems". You want a man who is a Schwarzeneggar clone (come on, admit it now), who destroys all your demons and rescues you from the tower where you're being held hostage, your fucking Knight in White Armor, your Lancelot who delivers you from your boring marriage to a boring King. . . . I tried to be that once, tried to be Lancelot instead of Arthur, and I'm still paying the alimony for that fucking mistake. . . .

I understand. Far more than you'll ever realize.

Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 09:30 AM by BlueIris
Taureans. The famed Libra-Taurus bond is like nothing else in the Zodiac. The next time I meet a Libra, male or female, I am like, gluing myself to that person. Not necessarily for the purposes of forming a relationship, just because the chances of our getting along well and contentedly should be excellent. Best friend I ever had in this life? Libra. Total sweetie, too. The only person I'd describe as my soulmate. The reasons she left my life are unfortunate and tragic and I still miss her to this day.

ETA: Supposedly, The Bond, can extend to romantic relationships, as well. But based on the experience I had with "my" Libra, I wouldn't want to try it--I can see how a Libra/Taurus couple could ge unhealthily consumed with each other.

not only do I not currently have any Taurus' in my life...I never have. I don't get on easily with them. I usually do good with other air signs and water signs and have one Capricorn in my life who has been my best friend for over 20 years.

I'm a firm believer that any two signs can get along if they make the effort. And any two signs can become mortal enemies if they make the effprt that direction as well.

I'm shocked to read your post.

Maybe you haven't really known any Taureans? Maybe they were all confused about what their signs were? Are you sure about your sign? Are you on one of the cusps? Were those alleged Taureans on cusps? Maybe they had other "screwy" things about them--maybe the incompatibility was the result of extreme clashes with other parts of your charts.

27. The quiz is pretty cut and dry for folks that know a little about
astrology. What they did was take the elements (fire, water, earth, air) and then they focused on the VERY generic strengths of all the particular signs and the VERY generic weaknesses of all the particualr signs. I knew as I was taking it I'd be matched with Cancer. However, I've only dated one and it wasn't a love connection. I'm a Virgo and my ex was a Taurus and my current girlfriend is a Taurus. There are great folks and nightmare folks in all of the signs. If the negative of any sign is paramount in the individual's personality, that's the experience you'll have. Same for the positive. I think astrology is a good template to see what your weaknesses might be and try to work on them.

30. As a Druid
directly descended along 2900 years of documented Celtic genealogy, I don't know precisely how I feel about astrology. We ancient European Pagans weren't big on the signs in the stars--despite the modern interpretations of sites like Stonehenge. We liked trees and rocks and dirt and crops and alcohol, the intimate communion of the Earth. :D The Stars are basically a Judeo-Christian thing, too young for my taste, although I often find some remarkable insights there. I do know that my own personal nascent chart is extremely accurate, describing my personality to a degree far beyond pure chance. But true astrology is a meticulous science, and I have a feeling that the "ZenHex" site is probably more of a "pop" thing.

I'm deeply attracted to Scorpios, and I feel this attraction long before I know that the person is a Scorpio. Been this way my entire life, male or female, all of my closest relationships. Scorpios aren't good for me, though; they've brought me nothing but pain. Nonetheless, I fall for them every single time.

What an idiot I am. hahahaha

36. Interesting. Really.
Thanks for pointing out a lot of the modern misconceptions about Druids--one of my pet peeves are all the stereotypes about them. I might have to PM you later.

I am MAD for Scorpios, too (I think it has something to do with that whole "opposites attract" concept, which, normally, I despise, because it doesn't fit with what I see as the best life strategy for me--but when it comes to Scorpios, Scorprio being Taurus' opposing sign, I can't deny it, I love them). I'm a Scorpio Rising, maybe my adoration and fascination with them is tied into that.

48. Apparently I should be dating Aries
Unfortunately every man, woman, child and wild animal I've been involved with has been a Scorpio. Which means great sex, but.....

Are there any cute Aries guys hanging around the Lounge? Just asking.

Khash.

53. That is strange. I think of Leos as the sign EVERYBODY wants
to be with. All the Leos I know are "happily married" (actually, they all appear to be legitimately happy in their relationships, which are all marriages). They have been successful in their careers and whether male or female, make "good homes." They just scream: Good Catch. Well, I guess maybe those people I know who aren't interested in the children don't want to be with the Leos (so famed for being in the House of Children). I have yet to meet a Leo who wasn't also a SuperMom/Dad.

59. I've always read that Pisceans can mesh easily with other signs,
except, perhaps, other Pisces. Although, I've also read that two Pisces together can be the dreamiest of all couples...but I guess not in your case. And the Pisces I've known have never seen me as desirable or someone they were compatible with (at least in a long-term sense).

60. Oops, should point out
that I'm a Virgo, and have plenty of fire and earth in my chart. He's got lots of water and air. He has no earth in his chart, I've got no air. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that we complemented each other as I'd have hoped.

I think he's more typical of a Pisces, but he's got a few strong Pluto aspects, and I would definitely call him "the walking wounded". Much more than anyone else I've ever met.

We're still great friends, though. :-)
