Wanna know why I won't buy an iPod?
I refuse to pay $500 for "disposable".

Apple Launches iPod Recycling Program

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple Computer Inc. launched a recycling program Friday for its popular iPod, encouraging owners to bring their digital music players to Apple retail stores for free, environmentally friendly disposal.

The company has been under siege from environmentalists, who say the company hasn't done enough to promote recycling of its products, which often end up in landfills in the United States and in developing countries.

People who bring their iPods to one of about 100 stores nationwide will also receive a 10 percent discount toward the purchase of a new iPod. The discount is only good the day people drop off their older iPod, iPod mini or iPod photo.

Apple representatives declined comment Friday afternoon but referred to a news release, which emphasized that any hazardous material would not be shipped overseas for processing.

2. I don't understand why you think -
that making a recycling program is the same thing as "disposable" ...? Things break sometimes, and are not worth repairing. It doesn't matter WHAT it is. I think it's cool Apple is doing this.

And I'm lovin' my iPod. :)

5. A Zen? I like the cut of your jib
If only Zens supported OGG, I would have one so damn fast.

8. You can replace the batteries.

This notoriously cheap gal would never have purchased one otherwise. ;)
Replacement batteries can be had for around $30.

I research everything to death before I drop a dime on it.

4. Aw come on...
Apple sucks major big time, but they do make good products. I got an ipod last christmas and can't imagine how I ever lived without it.
Not only does my life now have a soundtrack, I also have all UrMarkus's gay bondage and discipline stories in my pocket. This is a very good thing.

Khash.

12. I don't like iPods, either. Not so much for the reason you posted,
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 12:37 PM by BlueIris
(although, that's an issue for me, too) but in general, I don't like downloading anything (not promoting anything the fanatically anti-online-music people are, just don't like that process and because almost none of what I like is online, it's not worth it for me). Let's just say, iPods don't fit within my lifestyle.
