I keep hearing about "weird" coincidences. You know? Friend
has this sudden thought about his mother and his mother passed away that moment. And so on. The problem is that people tend to remember the odd coincidences and forget all those other times when they had a similar thought and nothing happened.
To be able to assess these things statistically one needs a huge database. It would be interestenting to have a web site where people can report all these coincidences. And do some rough calculations and see if "chance" is a good explanation.
Any ideas? How would you make sure people don't just make up shit?...

2. I don't believe in coincidences.
It's all a part of something greater. We just don't always get it when it happens.

5. years ago
I worked nightshift... One guy I worked with became a very close friend...

anyways -- I'm driving to work one night, and suddenly felt like a bolt of lightning hit me in the head... I "KNEW" my friend had found a new job and was going to be handing in his resignation...

He had not previously mentioned anything to me about thinking of finding a new job, looking for a new job etc..

When I got to work I told him that I had a bolt of lightning psychic flash pertaining to him. In front of him, I wrote down that he had gotten a new job. (he did not see what I wrote) I put it in an envelope, sealed it, and gave it to him. Told him I would tell him when to open it.

well, around breaktime - he tells me he's gotten a new job and is dropping his resignation off at the HR office in the morning.. I told him to open the envelope...

7. Thought this might interest you
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity

Synchronicity is a word created by the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung to describe the alignment of "universal forces" with the life experiences of an individual. Jung believed that many experiences perceived as coincidences were not merely due to chance, but instead reflected the creation of an event or circumstance by the "co-inciding" or alignment of such forces1. The process of becoming intuitively aware and acting in harmony with these forces is what Jung labeled "individuation." Jung said that an individuated person would actually shape events around them through the communication of their consciousness with the collective unconscious2.

Jung spoke of synchronicity as being an "acausal connecting principle" (ie. a pattern of connection that is not explained by causality).

8. It was a Saturday
Much like today. I had all ready done some house work, yards stuff etc, grocery shopping and got myself a pecan pie. Yum my favorite. Even treated myself to a piece of pie at lunch. Later on that day my twin brother came by to drop something off and had walked into my kitchen. He came out laughing saying, "I've got a pie just like that today and one piece is missing just like yours."

Well it ain't much. But we do stuff like this all the time.

10. Things like this have happened with my twin brother
A few years ago we sent each other the exact same Christmas card. That was weird because there are only thousands of Hallmark cards to choose from and we picked the same one. And once he was sitting in my living room and said, "Hey, what color paint is this?" We'd just painted a few months before. I went out to the garage to check the paint cane and came back and said, "Weathered Pane" and he gasped because he painted his LR around the same time and painted with the same color! Have you chosen wall paint lately? Do you know there are about a million color to from which to select??!!! Anyway my DH says my twin and I are two bodies sharing one brain. Maybe he's right! :)
