I usually get punched in the face at least once at a show by just random "hardcore" scene hipsters. One time, they were doing their hardcore "dancing" which just involves throwing random punches during a set by the Black Dahlia Murder. BDM is NOT hardcore, therefore you shouldn't dance like them to it. So, when this guy jumped off of the stage and kicked me in the face, I wasn't pleased, cause that's now how you're supposed to behave at these shows. He went up to try it again, but I caught him and slammed him on the ground the second time. I wasn't about to get kicked again. Right after that, he got up and ran the hell outta there really fast. I wasn't even going to follow through, I figured he learned his lesson, no need for me to further embarass him. The whole crowd saw me slam him. He didn't really get hurt, but at least he knows not to intentionally kick strangers in the face any more.

My friend Dennis was sooooo pissed off about it he beat the kid wearing and his two friends up as result. I just kinda stood aside cause everyone there was bigger than me. I'm not small guy though, I'm 6'1" and fairly muscular, but I'm not about to fight a bunch of Nazi pricks unless my friend is actually in trouble. Dennis is about 6'10" and solid muscle, so I wasn't worried about him.

I used to know a guy who was straight edge back in high school. The people he liked to hang out with were straight edge also, but he was not averse to hanging out with kids who were not straight edge. He might give you a hard time about smoking or whatever, but it was all good natured kind of teasing. He was a good guy and as far as I know avoided violence.
