32. The reason that the mother cat hates you is because she's a tortoiseshell.

Tortoiseshells take a very long time to socialize when they are scared/feral/re-adopted. I actually rescued a pregnant tortoiseshell from an idiot heroin addict (read: stole from idiot's apartment when he left the door open), and it took her months before she would come near me. Now, twelve years later, she won't leave me alone! So keep trying.

as am I really. I can live with it, but the fostering is what dh and I compromised on when I told him I wanted a cat. I will do my best, I know I love her, that's what really matters. I harbor no ill will towards her or the scratches on my leg!
