OMG! Have I become a Little League parent?
We're coming down to the end of the season, and yesterday we played the team we're tied with for first place (They nipped us in extra innings the first time we played.) With the score tied at 4 in the bottom of the 6th inning and one out, my 12 year old son came to bat. He fouled off the first pitch, took a called strike on the second, and hit the third pitch over the center-field fence for his first-ever, game-winning, walk-off home run. I would love my guy if he couldn't find his ass with both hands, but I've got to admit, I will never forget the look on his face as his teammates mobbed him at home plate. I walked over to the dugout and extended a fist, trying to be cool, but he jumped into my arms. I could feel his heart beating almost as fast as my own. Damn! I love being a Dad!

1. Do you drink heavily and get into fights at the games?
You should! It really shows that you care.

3. Aw. That's sweet.
Congrats to your son.

Just don't become one of those dads who bludgeons another parent with, in your case, not a hockey stick, but a bat, when the game doesn't go his way ... ;)

4. Happily, this is a small town just outside of D.C.
These kids have been playing against each other since T-ball and the parents are friends and neighbors. (The pitcher he took deep is actually one of my wife's 6th grade students!)
