GUESS the seventies musician...May 2004 photo.
This band got its start at the end of the 60s, packed it in during the mid-80s, and has reunited in the present day.

GUESS the musician.

4. Wrong...here's hint #1
The original band was formed after the collapse of a legendary 60s band.

One founding member left very early and went on to form another legendary 70s band.

8. Not in the original (or current) incarnation.
Hint #2: During the final phase of their career in the 80s, two British musicians were added, and they named one of their albums accordingly.

The musician is founding member and pedal steel player Rusty Young.

Here he is with the original band (early 70s, on the bottom right):

Here are the answers to the hints:

Hint #1:

The original band was formed after the collapse of a legendary 60s band. (Answer: Buffalo Springfield)

One founding member left very early and went on to form another legendary 70s band. (Answer: Randy Meisner left before the first album was recorded and became a founding member of The Eagles)

Hint #2:

During the final phase of their career in the 80s, two British musicians were added, and they named one of their albums accordingly. (Album Title: "Cowboys and Englishmen")

Hint #3:

The bass player on the first two albums left and formed one of the most successful singer-songwriter duos of the seventies. (Answer: Jim Messina, former member of Buffalo Springfield, left to form Loggins & Messina with Kenny Loggins)

Hint #4:

The musician in this photo shares the same LAST NAME...althought they are NOT related...with one of the members of the legendary 60s band that broke up and resulted in THIS band's formation. (Answer: The legendary sixties band member referred to is Neil Young)

36. OK - let's go a step futrther - Poco trivia-wise
One of the early 70's members of Poco joined the band from a rather obscure band - actually, the band was really two main members and a revolving cast. They had two LP's out - on a major label. The other member of the "duo'' went on to form a wonderfully obscure band that was pretty well known (to the "heads") in New England, and played on the same bill with NRBQ at times. He later went on to be a fairly successful session musician - I think.

Who were these two folks? What was the original band they were in? What was the name of the wonderully obscure band?

It's a much more obscure group than Delaney and Bonnie, if that helps.

40. He's right!
In order to get it, you would have had to have been listening to free-form FM radio back in the late 60's/early 70's, or have a real good working knowledge of some of the lesser-heard bands of that era.

But this particular band (and band member) put out two LP's on a VERY major label.

Honest. :)
