Looking for a book title: young Inca boy runs to tell about invaders
Read this back in the early 60's in probably 4-6th grade. Does this storyline ring a bell for anyone? Thank you very much.

1. darcy micnichols ?
Spelling etc. is probably wrong. A Native American young adult author? There weren't so many. I'll try to get the exact title when I'm sober. PM me if I forget, OK?

Close, almost the right name too, it seems like it is Runner in the Sun, but this book is not quite right. Argh. Onward with the search.

Good job, being drunk and all. Do you remember Road to Agra too?

Bennett, Rowena 1944 "Runner for the King," about an Inca boy who carried a knotted-string message across the Andes.

Thank you so much for getting my mind going the right way. Drink on.

5. Want a reeeeeeally good book about the Aztecs?
Aztec, by Gary Jennings

The Journeyer, about Marco Polo and also by Jennings, was pretty damn good, too. Lots of miniscule detail about everyday life, epic storylines, and plenty of graphic sex and violence. You'll be hooked for all 1000 pages.
