Marvel Comics has all the cool movie superheroes, except for
Batman. Now, this upcoming 'beginnings' flick (actually CALLED Batman Begins) looks like it will be very much in keeping with the serious Dark Knight style of Batman stories.

Batman is unique in that he has no super power-- he relies on his mind more than his body. He's always considered himself more a detective than a Hero. His exploits have always been darker, dealing with things closer to him personally than most other DC comics. Marvel Comics has ALWAYS specialized in personalizing their heroes, making them real for kids worldwide. At last DC Comics is catching up.

As a reader of comics for many years, I really look forward to this one.

2. Not that Roger Ebert's word is truth, but
he panned all the previous Batman movies, but loved this one.

5. None of the others come up to this level.
The first one was good, then they got sillier instead of serious, and I lost interest. Now I'm paying attention again.

i dont WANT a story to go with my super heros. i mean, character development, ok, fine, but most of my superhero movies need to be them wailing on bad guys

7. Well, DC has more coming out
Another Superman, a Wonder Woman, Lobo, Preacher, and Watchmen. How did Constantine do? I wanted to see it, but never got to the theater.

10. I wasn't especially impressed with Constantine
(Aside from cool SFX and a madman's vision of hell brought to life)

18. Green Lantern was always my fave as a kid. But the GL I knew
had auburn hair and a very sexy green torso/black arms & legs skin-tight outfit with the lantern symbol on the chest and white gloves. The one in your image is completely different. I LOVED that series.

Here's the GL I remember:

The web page where I found it ( http://www.hyperborea.org/flash/hal.html ) has the GL story - looks like the one I remember, Hal Jordan, got turned into The Spectre, which explains why the one in your image is a different guy. After my time.

(The Spectre)

20. Hal Jordan's alive again...
and wielding his ring once again. Proof that if enough fanboys whine and cry loud enough and long enough, they'll bring anybody back from the dead (except Bucky ;)).

15. Image had some cool comics...
Not sure what they have out these days, not much into the whole comic scene.

The only one I know is thius one called Paradigm. Not a superhero comic. Not sure what you'd call it really. The first issue is available on the Image site in its entirety, I really enjoy it. Nice and weird.

The first one, with Brandon Lee. The two that followed were vastly inferior.

23. The original black and white Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic
was the best :).

Then they turned into a freakin' cartoon. The original was darker, with some humor thrown in, but nowhere near the dubmass cartoon it became.

19. Wonder Woman!
I am waiting for that one...I just hope they don't screw it up! Joss Whedon can be "hit or miss." Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman and heavy Greek Mythology and the original story...and I will be first in line!!

Personally, I can't wait. I've been waiting for a good adaptation of the Batman comic for a while now -- and I never really enjoyed the Burton films or the other two. When Christian Bale was announced to play Wayne, I had mixed feelings and then I heard they were completely altering Ra's Al-Ghul, my favorite Batman villan... Still, I have high hopes... it's been said that this film is heavily influenced by Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One," and you can't go wrong with that...
