Below are nine nouns. Choose among the nine your favorite noun. A tenth choice is offered for rogue nouns of your choosing.

Wildly exuberant and unpredictably associative remarks are welcome following your vote.

TIA

1. rhubarb
What other noun even comes close to being both
a colorful vegatable and a brouhaha in baseball?

5. You forget DICK! It's an amazingly versatile NOUN!
It's a nickname for "Richard"...DICKs span the scale from YORK to NIXON...

It's slang for "schlong"...
(sheer POETRY "slang for schlong" is;...
Let that gal marketing the Crustacean Exoskeletons near the beach try to say THAT ten times FAST, lol!)

It means "interact", as in: "Don't dick around with that."
(oops, VERB form...nevermind!)

AND it's slang for 'nothing', as in:
"You don't know DICK about words that are slang for "schlong"!

So, I humbly submit that MY noun is bigger than your nouns.

6. Your noun is mighty impressive, no question.
It's just the right noun for a POLL like this.

There was a race car driver a while back named Dick Pohl, I think. Junior High must have been a contentious experience for him.

A cousin of mine used to go to a dentist named Harold Dick. This is true.

Sometimes I wonder why parents don't have more foresight when they choose their kids' names.

Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 03:17 AM by dicksteele
You are obviously not a NASCAR fan, or you would have been aware of a driver named...

(brace yerself, take a DEEP breath...)

A top NASCAR driver named...(I F*cking KID you NOT):

"DICK TRICKLE"!

See for yourself:http://www.dicktricklefanclub.com/

WHAT can I say? TRUTH is stranger than....well, lots of stuff, really...

DICK is STRANGER than FICTION!

(EDIT: I need to retract my title statement. After 5 minutes and a cigarette, I gotta say that the name 'Dick Pohl' is pretty darn FUNNY!)

I hope he does anyway.

It almost sounds like a character the writers for SOUTH PARK would create.

10. We read you on that, Houston.
Yeah, it's a noun alright.

My association of that word trends toward certain members of Congress generally and Republican members of Congress specifically.

A very useful noun indeed.

22. I'm with the camp that says you're allowed to jam adjectives together --
-- to make one part of speech -- a noun -- and if any grammarians say different, I'm calling in an air strike on their damn houses.

Hi, Dark_Leftist. The Wankel Rotary Engine is so good it should probably have a thread all of its own.

And is easily transformed into a one-size-fits-all adjective.

A very nimble noun, no question.

38. The first time I tried it outloud to a teacher was to a math teacher
in 7th grade.

It was NOT a terrific strategy, but it felt good to register my discontent anyway.

I was grounded for a week.

In retrospect, looking back, uh....I'd do the same thing, only I'd say it much louder!
