Poll question: What if your child/spouse admitted to commiting a heinous crime?
What would you do?
I've told my kids a long time ago that I wouldnt lie for them if they were guilty of something heinous. I'd firstly try to talk them into turning themselves in.

1. Depends on the crime and the circumstances surrounding
the crime.

2. Lets say murder, rape or armed robbery.
A capital offense.

5. Rape and armed robbery? I would lawyer up for them
and walk them into the police station. Murder? Once again, depends on the circumstances.

3. Isn't marrying your child against the law? So then you'd be copping
to 2 crimes.

Seriously, it would all depend on who, what and the circumstances.

Not a self-defense crime.

8. Find a lawyer.
First, I'd assess for safety. If my sister confessed to murdering my other sister, I'd not be too eager for grouphugs.

Then, I'd be honest and say that convince him or her to face the consequences. I'd be supportive and be damned sure that his or her rights were upheld. However, if it were a truly heinous crime, I couldn't cover it up.
