But yeah, if you like Roger Dean, it is a big dose of cool! :)

16. Best of Otis Redding
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 06:22 PM by gmoney

This is an oldie that never made it to CD in this form (I don't think)... it came out after the plane crash that took Otis so damn young, and it didn't need big lettering on it, just this simple portrait, which is actually a collage made up of performance photos and newspaper articles about Otis. A fantastic piece of art and a great tribute to a great performer.

I have this framed on my wall at home, but I'm at work so I had to make do with what I found online.

And an obvious favorite:

The original cover was a corpse with his head blown apart. Literally. The front was just the head as is; the back was the dr's hands squashing it together to what it (sorta) originally was. I used to just stare at it for hours.

I can't find it to post it, and I'm not sure anyone would want to see it anyway. :D

It's pretty horrific.

Not like the other Big Black cover I posted further down this thread.

I like all their artwork:

Atomizer, Hammer Party, Heartbeat, Racer X.

My favourite is the cover they did of Cheap Trick's "He's a Whore", in which on the 7" sleeve, Albini et al are made to look exactly like Cheap Trick.

The sound engineer photographed the total eclipse that night as we recorded the album in the old band room at Auburn University. I suggested the title when the proofs came out. It stuck.

White cover - outline of a head with eyes visible. There is a rainbow, a butterfly on the side -- maybe a brook or river and maybe one of the eyes has a tear.
