I don't know how technically gifted Joe is but I love his style. He's certainly an amusing character as well.

and then he joined the Eagles, and turned into damp white bread, never did anything worthwhile after that.

as well as Joe did with the James Gang is O.K. with me!
He is a great guitarist. He and Felder sounded good together, but the Eagles style is much tamer than Walsh's natural element.
Joe is still among the greatest crunchmasters to ever wield an ax.

I have always liked Joe Walsh. He has a sense of humor and isn't a bad musician either.

I love his music, but the guy's clearly insane.
I used to love hearing him as a guest on Q102 when it was THE rock station... his drunken (or otherwise intoxicated) howling, "How yooo doooin?!" was a staple for years.

9. I saw him in a club with the James Gang in maybe '68? |
|
We lived in the Cleveland area, where he was a local phenom, but really a regional star.
I went to a local Hullabaloo club, where he sat (SAT?) and played, and did basically whatever the hell struck him at the time. I was expecting a slick power performance of their two hits and some other stuff. I was surprised by his approach but liked it a lot. I think it went right over the heads of most of the audience.
An idosyncratic performance in a very commericial club.
