Decency on TV has gone too far! |
|
I'm watching one of my favorite programs, Globetrekker.
The host is in New Guinea visiting some of the tribes. All the women are topless. It's part of their native dress, for crying out loud.
What do the TV nannies do? Blur out the women's chest's. I have to watch a big moving blurry blob in the middle of the screen. x( Most annoying!
I'm tired of the FCC telling what I can watch and how I'm supposed to watch it. Are they going to sensor National Geographic too?

1. national geographic is probably going to be sold in that sealed plastic |
|
wrap that playboy and the other skin magazines are in, on the back rack of the convience store. if a subscription, mailed in a plain brown wrapper.
just a few years ago, documentary style shows weren't blurring the female tribesman.
i love the new "sensitivity" :eyes:

3. It's really ironic how they |

feel the need to censor a completely natural appearance for propriety's sake. Are we going to go back to long table cloths on tables now because table legs are considered too provocative?

will not allow NG anywhere near "her" grandchildren. She thinks that it's obscene and that they "preach" too much of that damn evolution. I get the kids a subscription every year for Christmas. Fuck her.

17. My best friend, their mother, has no problems w/ NG. |
|
She is a history teacher and thinks that magazines like that and Scientific American are wonderful for her children. And she gives my kid the same Christmas present. BTW-she is raising her kids to be libs. She just has to deprogram them every time they visit her inlaws.

10. Does NG even show nipples anymore? |
|
Fond mammeries memories of my earliest introduction to the female anatomy. Anything related to "Peoples of the South Pacific" or "Tribal life in the Malaysian Islands" was always a popular issue in the library.

in GD.
I mean, really. It's not that big a deal. When did we get so offended at what nature gave us?

9. Its our culture in particular. |

In tropical climates where there is no choice but to breastfeed the breast is not so sexualized as it is here.

14. Reminds me of when my Southern Baptist BIL and his wife lived |
|
in Honduras. The local women would go topless to the river to wash their clothes. The Jehovah Witness missionaries saw it as their earthly duty to give all of them bras, so the ladies then wore their bras to wash their clothes. :)

 That's good. Hooray for the Honduran women!
I just don't get this need to hide our natural selves from ourselves.

18. I don't get it either, Supernova |
|
And I didn't even go near the BF'ing thread in GD. Had that discussion too many damn times already, and I'm only 24. I mean, it's a breast, for crying out loud. It's main purpose in existing is to nourish children, which is a natural process, and it doesn't have to be sexual  Sorry, couldn't help it :)
Anyway, I agree. I am much more offended by tons of violence that are on TV than any and all nudity (and most sex) that could be shown.
