I liked that show along with the show "Earth 2".

Those were the days...

I have all the seasons, so I'm not dissing... well... kind of... sometimes it was good, and some times it was hilariously over the top bad

12. I can't think of his name either but that was Peter DeLuise
who played the guy who had the multi colored skin. Who now is the producer of Stargate SG-1

4. Cloddish, dull, silly, badly-written, a waste of money . . .
That could have been better spent making documentaries on the burrowing habits of mole crickets.

Other than that, it was just fine.

9. It wasn't that good
I mean it was a complete and utter rip off of STNG complete with their own version of Wesley "The Geek" Crusher. I could never decide which was worse the first season where they did things like run into Neptune and get abducted by aliens or the second season where they tried to go serious and failed.

10. Yeah, it was
a ripoff of Next Generation, which was pretty awful. But the first season was more serious than the second IMO. But I'd rather watch Sea Quest than Star Trek. It was funnier when it was bad and better when it was good.

15. The only way I could watch Sea Quest is if I was totally drunk and
allowed to do my own MSTK 3000 treatment of it. When Trek was bad it was boring when it would hit its stride it was fantastic. Well sorry Sea Qest was never good. But we each have our own loves when it comes to Sci Fi. Personally I thought Bablyon Five was far better than both of them put together.

11. The first season was excellent
Then someone jumped into the puddle with both feet, and managed to destroy the entire concept. What began as brilliance ended as embarassment.

16. Sorry you wont get me to budge
The show "The Prisoner" was brilliant. "Sea Quest" was a ripoff that unfortunately didn't sink quick enough.

29. David Kemper took over and ruined
much like he did with Farscape (IMO). Intersting how both shows were created by Rockne O'Bannon and Kemper was involved with both.

I remember when it was announced that Kemper was taking over Farscape, many fans of Seaquest DSV were worried that he would ruin it as well

25. Weak writing and
not supported by the best of those who practice the thespian craft. The 2nd season changeups really lost me. And this is from someone who watched "Skinner" just to watch Ted Raimi.

30. Ha! SeaQuest annecdote...
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 07:58 PM by CanuckAmok
I worked with one of the lead actors from SeaQuest, after it had been cancelled.

I won't say who it was because this person is an asshole. I'm sure enough sleuthing could turn-up who it was, but I'm not going to induldge your curiosity. Let's just call this person "Former SeaQuest Personality".

Anyway, this performer tried to get me fired, because I "deeply offended" that person.

How?

Here's how:

We were shooting a scene in a major hotel in the downtown core. The "circus", aka the actors' mobile changerooms had to be parked two blocks away, for logistical reasons.

Because of a bunch of one-way streets and rish-hour turn restrictions, the two-minute walk to the hotel was a twenty minute drive. All the other actors said "fuck it, I'll walk".

Except Former SeaQuest Personality.

No, Former SeaQuest Personality refused to walk two blocks. Not only did this preference take an inordinate amount of time to deal with, it also tied up a shuttle van and a very expensive Teamster driver.

The Transport Coordinator called me and said (I'm toning this down a little): "That &*^*&(^*%&^$^%%$#, R#%$(&*(%$%^* Mother&^%^%& primadonna %^$#$^%#(* wants one of my drivers instead of a %^$&^%#ing two minute walk! Can you please talk to the %$#^%$#$@sucking %$#^%%543smoker?"

So I phone Former SeaQuest Personality, and ask that person, vwery politely, if they wouldn't mind walking, and it would save production all kinds of headaches, blah blah blah...

"No", replies Former SeaQuest Personality, "What if someone recognises me?"

I'm thinking, :wtf: this person had a supporting role in an obscure sci-fi series which lasted, what, maybe two seasons at best?

So I say, jokingly, "C'mon, Former SeaQuest Personality, who's gonna recognise you...is your mom in town?"

Dead silence, then the sound of a cellphone clicking shut.

"Oh, shit".

About fifteen minutes later, I get a call from one of the producers in LA, who says he's just had his ass chewed off by Former SeaQuest Personality, said personality's agent, and the labour rep of the SAG.

I figure I'm fired.

But the Producer tells me to tell Former SeaQuest Personality that he has two options, per the Studio Head:

1) walk to set

2) be delivered to set at the end of the Producer's shoe, and written out of the rest of the series.

Former SeaQuest Personality reluctantly complied.

So I won.

I guess.
