Does/has anyone here use/used g-mail?

If you are or were a user, could you explain this concept to me? What is it? Do you like it? How does it compare to other e-mail services?

1. gmail is like any other free email service

It's nothing special. You get 2 gigabytes of storage space, but I believe that hotmail and yahoo mail offer similar features.

I can send you an invite if you would like send me an email address to send you an invite, and then you can have your own account. Each gmail user is given 50 invites to allow them to give accounts out at their discretion. I assume this is becuase gmail is still in some kind of beta process and not fully open to the public.

3. i use gmail and i like it

certain features like auto complete and filing of all addresses you mail to in your address book are very cool. the search mail function is also pretty good, which is not surprising.
i've used hotmail and yahoo (free services) for over 7 years but gmail beats them both hands down in terms of ease of use. hotmail is especially terrible, with all its heavy duty graphics.
try it, you'll like it.
