Air Supply was not boring because they reached the ultimate pinnacle heights of suckdom!

Hootie and the Blowfish were the quintessential definition of mediocricy. They were the house band of the neutrals. They are the sound of beige.

63. Hall and Oates aren't really that boring
if you consider the bulk of the material they released, especially their seventies work.

I could see how their early-eighties megahits could make someone think there was little variety to their sound, but their seventies albums (my favorite material by them) cover several genres of music, as they searched for their sound. They swing from folk to seventies soul to experimental rock to pop to hard rock to even stuff with disco and "punk" (I know most punk fans would say it is technically impossible for Hall and Oates to do punk music, but there is some stuff on Along the Red Ledge that gets eerily close to it) elements.

Anyway, just defending my boys Hall and Oates. :-) Their seventies work is some of my favorite forgotten (besides the two or three Top Ten Hits) music by a major artist.

26. Gotta go for Boston
Their first albumn was great, a classic of sorts. However they had that extended feud with their label, and when the dust settled down and they came out with two other albumns, like fifteen years later, guess what, they sounded exactly like the first one, stuck in the seventies.

Just 'cause there doesn't seem to be much variety to the themes of their lyrics or their sound. I don't consider many of the groups listed to be "boring", though. They may have unjustifiably earned that reputation due to the one or two songs of theirs that get constant rotation on the radio, though.
