I rarely have more than one glass of wine per sitting. |
|
Tonight I'm having two, and I'm realizing just how low my tolerance really is!

A good Cab is my wine of choice, and is, in fact, what I am drinking now.
I'm also fond of Chianti.

|
I've got through well over a bottle and still been basically compos mentis (or at least as much as when I started).

as we get older, our tolerance drops.
I have no idea why, but the fundamental unfairness of it pisses me off.

7. Is that what it is? Damn, that IS unfair! |

I guess I'll just have to sip my customary one glass that much more slowly to savor it.

And can put down 4 pints in an evening without a problem. The last few times I have had wine or hard liquor it has put me out pretty quick and given me nasty hangovers.

8. I like beer, especially with a good hearty meal. |
|
I rarely drink hard liquor except for the occasional martini, margarita, or vodka sour (and the vodka sour only in the summer).

I sank three last night with no discernable ill-effect.
My 4 years of hard-training (called university) has not worn off thankfully.

if i am in a "big" glass mood, i sure do get strange looks if we are having anyone over. i usually just tell them that i am probably going to have a few glasses anyway so why not just put it all in one big one

20. I know the feeling, of course I'm 18 and not legally allowed to drink |
|
But that doesn't stop me, of course. My was low enough at one point that I was pretty drunk after 2 beers.

Our legal age for buying and drinking in pubs is 18 (can drink earlier at home). I was drinking regularly from the age of about 14, I even had a Member of Parliament buy me a drink in a pub whilst I was still 17.
Don't worry though - university is where you really build up your tolerance. But 2 beers? How big were they? It wouldn't be bad if you were drinking German style and having a litre at a time.

That incident was about 2 years ago, I was 16. I've gotten to the point where I need at least 4 or 5 beers before I'm good. And even then it's a short drunk. Hard liquor, however, will keep me drunk for hours.
BTW that's freakin awesome that a member of parliament bought you a drink.
Most bars in America won't even let you in the door until you are 21 and most members of congress would lose their seat if they bought an underage kid a drink.
Luckilly I live in New Orleans, where the cops don't care that much and you can get into some bars at 18.

23. Not only is our age lower |
|
We mostly don't give a **** about it.
Legally one can enter a bar from the age of 14. Police, barmen &c. are far more concerned with groups getting completely shit-faced and fighting then about a 17 year-old sitting and talking politics over a pint or two. Overall, we're far more relaxed about drinking.
I've never been asked for proof of age either b.t.w.

I think that it was more like that in America during the 60's and 70's and then the family values conservative assholes decided that alcohol and drugs were ruining society and corrupting our youth and thus drinking underage has beomce a capital offense, especially in some of the more conservative states. I was on vacation in Oklahoma and the people that we were with had rented out a bar for a private party during daytime. I had to go in, get my food, and sit outside because it was illegal for anyone under 21 to be in the bar.
