I can get the signal for Sirius by putting the antenna in front a window sometimes but it's facing South

1. Point South
I had the reverse problem. I had to put my Sirius Antenna outside. I can get XM just sitting it on the window sill.

Yes, I have Sirius and XM. Long story. As soon I'm ready to ditch one the other comes up with better Air America programming. I kept XM for baseball. Seems to have paid off.

I actually preferred Sirius and will be interested in how they replace AAR.

4. what if I don't have a window with a Southern view?
would putting the antenna on the ledge pointing South work? would the car antenna work?

5. I had the opposite problem with Sirius
I had to put it out the window and out as far as I could and point it north. I sit it on my deck railing and it has worked. I've had it out over a year and it is holding up just fine.

2. I will be getting XM too (in my car)
very soon and I'd like to know the same thing. We'd like to get a XM home radio once we get the car receiver. My house is in a very wooded area though so I don't know if we'll have good reception.

3. I just got my
free XM Roady. I took it out to my farm and hung the antenna out the South window of my barn and my reception is perfect. I was going to climb on top of the roof and mount it but it is so good I just left it hanging.

6. that's easy...
don't let them out in the first place- or if you do, use a leash-
(sorry i couldn't resist)

We do what others have suggested- put the antenna unit outside the house, and bring the cord in through the window- have to have ours facing south/west, but we live in NH- usually have no problem getting a signal at all- it's a Sirius xact- with a magnetic antenna- mounts nicely on the bracket that used to hold the shutters-

hope you have success- it's a whole different world on satellite radio
