So I have an ulcer in my eye.
Went to a local theme park Monday and about halfway through the day, I felt like I had something in my eye. I thought it was my contacts, but after taking them out, I still had a jabbing pain in it. Cut to yesterday morning. I was trying to drive to work and my eye starting tearing up and was super sensitive to light. Not wanting to take a chance on it being something serious, I went to the eye doctor. Basically, I have an ulcer right smack-dab in the middle of my eye. If these eye drops don't work (for some odd reason), it'll scar and affect my vision permanently. It's a pretty scary thing knowing that you could possibly be slightly blind (if not completely) in one eye. So, for the next week, I have to wear my dorky glasses and avoid direct sunlight. What fun. :sarcasm:

Moral of the story: If you have a gut feeling that you should go to a doctor, GO.

That means a lot! :) You know me, I'm sure it'll work out eventually. If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any.

6. Been there, Blondie . . .
I had exactly the same thing happen to me about 15 years ago while wearing extended wear contacts. That hurts like heck, and you have my sympathy. Fortunately, the eye heals pretty quickly; just be sure to do what the doctor says.

9. Being sick sucks.
2 weeks ago I came down with Bell's Palsy. It's the first time I've ever had it. Like most people who get it I went to the emergency room thinking I was having a stroke. Basically the whole right side of my face is paralyzed. The first two weeks I was in terrible pain. I can only taste food on one side of my mouth. I have to put an ointment in my eye and wear a eye patch at night because it won't say closed and could dry out. Eating in a public place is out. I have to use my hand to push the food from my right cheek back to the center of my mouth so I can chew it. When I try to wash my face I have to manually hold my eye shut to keep out the soap. It's just a bitch all the way around. The good news is that I should recover completely in 3 to 6 months. :woohoo: :sarcasm:

19. They don't know the cause.
It's something that is semi-rare. Somewhere around 25 out of every 100,000 people will get it at some point in their life. There is a theory that a virus like a herpes virus is responsible but it's only a theory. I'm still checking with another doctor to make sure it isn't a problem with the lymph glands in my neck. Around 60% of the facial palsy's are Bell's Palsy. Presumably the rest are caused by either trauma to the facial nerve or an infection of some kind.

There are a lot of famous people that have it that may surprise you. Pierce Brosnan, George Clooney, Jean Chretien, Rick Savage (Def Leppard), Chris Walker (Superbike Racer), Ralph Nader (Famous Asshole), Jim Ross (WWF Commentator), Gordon Lightfoot.

Here's some more information on it, http://www.bellspalsy.org.uk/

PS: Get well yourself and take care of that eye.

22. Eye problems can be a concern
(I've had laser surgery in both eyes because of glaucoma and also take eye drops). Just keep those contacts out, take the drops and you'll be fine! Watch out for computer screen eye fatique too. :hi:

34. Back from the 16th century
spent the weekend at the RenFest; it was the final weekend. Had an excellent time. The weather was hot, but not rainy. Pics taken, to be developed. I'm such a nerd that my character is a nerd, Henry Prince, the Navigator. Good cousin to my brother's character, Sir William of Trent, henchman of the Sheriff of Nottingham.
