Grammar Nazi time. Today's lesson: The double 'is'.
"You know the thing I hate about this is, is that it sounds really stupid most, if not all of the time".

Sam and Janeane are really bad about the double 'is'.

Now, please, proceed to tear my grammar apart ... for I care more about eradicating the double is than my ego. The more controversy the more exposure to this cancer upon the lexicon.

8. Amen to that
I always hate when a boss at work - someone who fancies that he is smarter than his lowly employees - says something like, "Forward that report to Joe, Mary and myself". It's "ME" stupid! Only YOU can forward a message to yourself!!!

16. No. In my example it was in the objective case.
...forward the report to me...not forward the report to I.

"is our children learning?"

Perhaps you should enlighten us as to the rules behind the objection.

27. Actually it should read "Hear, hear!", but I thought I'd go with the more
common typo considering the thread topic.

24. This isn't something I've noticed
But I think I understand what you're getting at. Is it that people add an extra ", is" to make their sentences sound longer and more thoughtful?

I'll have to listen for that! Maybe I even do it myself sometimes.
