"I don't see anything" is preferable to "I see nothing."

In addition, it is not necessary to yell a second "NOTHING!" and clap your hands to the sides of your helmet while running out of Hogan's barracks at top speed.

3. Well, yeah, cause nothing could be something, and then you'd be
saying you see something by saying you see nothing and therefore you'd be contradicting your own statement, or at least creating an ambiguity requiring further explanation, and that is inefficient and wastes too many words.

The helmet slap is kind fo cute, though.
