Popeye's Spicy Chicken and Red Beans and Rice for Supper |
|
washed down with a big old glass of iced tea. Popeye's is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a good sale, ten pieces mixed chicken for $5.99, but just through tomorrow.

Hell, give me a pitcher.
I'm a native-born Yankee but I loooooove sweet tea. Here in Minnesota if a restaurant even HAS iced tea, it's usually the Nestea crap from a fountain, and it's NEVER sweet.
Fortunately we do have a couple of Popeye's restaurants up here, so I can at least try the chicken deal. Thanks for the tip!

6. I hear ya about the sweet tea |
|
I find it hard to travel outside of my native Jesusland for that very reason. Here you just ask for a sweet tea. When you do it elsewhere, say for instance Portland, OR, they look at you like your crazy, then tell you all they have is raspberry flavored Nestea. Yuck! Or hot tea.
Sorry y'all. Folks outside the South just can't do tea. :)

8. Ugh, that raspberry Nestea. |
|
Yeah, I drink it, mainly because I try to drink as little pop as possible and it's becoming a more common option.
But it, like all fountain tea, has that sodium benzoate preservative in it which just scratches the back of my throat. Yuck.
THANKFULLY there is Cracker Barrel, which serves up delicious fresh-brewed sweet tea. And of course I'll make it at home from time to time. I really wish it would catch on up here.

9. I'm too hot to be hungry but even so, |
|
that sounds delicious (if extremely bad for me). I loooooooove their red beans and rice even more than their chicken.

10. Pop's is awesome chicken! |
|
But I like the fries better than the red beans and rice. Their biscuits are good, too.
The occasional crawfish platters are NOT to be missed.
