HTML question about aligning images
On this page:
http://www.moveleft.com/moveleft_essay_2005_06_08_chris_cox_if_you_liked_the_enron_mess_then_youll_be_delighted_to_h.asp

Is there a way to make the phrase, "Congressman Chris Cox (R-CA)" appear below the photo?

1. Your best bet...
...is simply to redo the picture with a little white space at the bottom of the image. Insert whatever text you like into the white field and upload the new image to your server. Problem solved!

3. Oohhh, I'm rusty, but...
there's an <align right> command that should work with a few breaks to put the text properly underneath the picture.

There are other ways, too, but I'd have to dig out the books to remember them.

4. Probably have to use tables.
The picture goes in one cell, the text in the cell right below it.

Have you ever looked at Mozilla? (The full-featured browser package related to Firefox.) It includes a really decent HTML editor that could help with this kind of stuff.

5. Try something like this
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 09:25 PM by no name no slogan
It's a little Cascading Style Sheets trick that I've used before (here's the source):

<span style="float:right;text-align:center;">
(insert img tag here)
<p> (insert caption here) </>
</span>

The "span" tag is a bit like an inline version of the "div" tag, and like any object in HTML, allows you to attach certain style attributes to it. In this case, you're telling it to float to the right of any regular text, and to center all elements.

By doing it this way, your other text will flow AROUND the photo and its caption, in a magazine-style layout. Also, you avoid the kludge of using tables for layout-- a method discouraged by XHTML rules.

Give it a shot and let me know if it works. :)
