Would someone tell me what kind of knife Rachel Ray uses on her... |
|
cooking show?
It's an awesome chef's knife, and she uses it for all kinds of slicing and dicing. I'd love to have one like it.
(Disclaimer: I can't stand to watch her, but I lust for her knife. For some reason, she grates on me.)

Wusthof's "Santoku, also known as an Asian chef's knife. It is a classic design and is considered indispendable in many kitchens."

12. You know what I've found to be the best knives? |
|
Cheap (but good quality) cleavers from the Asian market (about $8.00). My current cleaver has survived about 4 years of very heavy use. It's really the only knife I use.

We have a Shun Santoku, and that sucker is sharper than any knife I've ever had. It beats by far the freshly sharpened high carbon Sabatier. I dread the day I slice myself, which is bound to happen sooner or later. I'm sure it'll mean some major stitches.

16. According to an article on santoku knives |
|
...from Knight-Ridder (here's a copy http://www.jsonline.com/entree/cooking/may05/324992.asp ), Rachael is pretty much responsible for those knives' recent popularity...
