Anyone ever buy a magazine subscription on Ebay?? |
|
I bought a subscription to Runners' World about three weeks ago for five bucks!! It just started to arrive yesterday. They have tons of titles for huge discounts.
Is there a catch?? Is it too good to be true??

1. I've done it several times... |

The only downside I've found is that sometimes it takes a while for the subscriptions to start. And some eBay magazine sellers try to pull a fast one by adding "shipping and handling" charges... but you can usually find one that doesn't.
I think the only catch is that the magazine hopes you'll renew directly with them when your initial subscription lapses.
Who knows... they might also sell your name to advertisers and similar magazines, so don't be surprised if you get offers from Triathlete or Healthy Dude or Scat Fetish weekly...
They like adding subscribers because it means they can boost ad rates. I know newspapers make all their profit on advertising -- subscription fees and newstand sales basically just cover the cost of paper, ink, printing and distribution. Or at least it used to...
