Russell Crowe seems quite contrite on Letterman.
He was trying to call his wife back in Australia and handled the situation badly due to stress.

1. yeah, somewhere on the news today...
I heard he was feeling badly about what happened... Although, I find it hard to believe, given the fact he just KEEPS blowing up at people. I think the contrition is due to the fact that the news report I heard said he may not be allowed back into the U.S. to make any more movies because of this last attack. I think he's more sorry about that, than hitting the poor desk clerk over the head with the phone!

He was going on and on, about how lonely he was, and how hard his life was right now... blah, blah, blah....

TEMPER, TEMPER: CROWE'S RECENT RUN-INS

Last year, Crowe got into a fight with his bodyguard, Mark "Spud" Carroll, while filming "Cinderella Man" in Toronto. Tabloid reports say Crowe pulled a Mike Tyson and bit off a chunk of Carroll's ear. The fight started after Carroll told the bad-boy actor that he should be home with his wife and kid, not at a bar checking out the scenery.

When Crowe won the Best Actor award for his role in "A Beautiful Mind" in 2002, his acceptance speech was a little too long for the show's director. So when Malcolm Gerry was forced to cut a few lines, Crowe confronted Gerry backstage. Sources said the actor pushed the 51-year-old producer up against a wall.

Later that year, Crowe got physical with a New Zealand tycoon at a trendy London restaurant, reportedly over a woman.

Surveillance video used in a court case against three nightclub owners in Australia showed Crowe in a 1999 fight yelling, throwing punches and head-butting a man, who also claims Crowe took a bite out of his neck.

According to a BBC Radio broadcaster, Crowe took offense in 2004 to a gift that she offered him for his child. Radio DJ Jo Whiley said she offered Crowe some clothes for his newborn son but was horrified by his reaction -- he threw them back in her face.

3. Wah! I make more money from one film than the average worker will
in their lifetime. But I have to go on location to do it. Pussy. I don't have any sympathy for him.

4. Conan just did one of his little show-opening gags...
...the "Celebrity Survey" thing where 3 celebrities are suppsoedly asked a question, and he reads their responses.

"If I were stranded on a desert island, I would-"

Matthew Broderick : "Build sand castles"
Hilary Swank: "Write poetry"
Russell Crowe: "Make a phone out of a coconut and throw it at birds"

Then Conan asked the producer if he still plans on coming tomorrow - apparently he's scheduled for tomorrow's show! Conan said he's probably coming to beat the crap out of him...

10. I like Crowe as an actor
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 03:41 AM by LiviaOlivia
I really liked him in Michael Mann's "The Insider" and Weir's "Master and Commander". He's a good actor, just hitting his stride, but he needs to realize that he's not 17 anymore.

Life is tough and I hope someday this man realizes how gifted/lucky he is. I do resent him for pissing away good fortune and hurting others.

12. I've always like Russell Crowe
He's a really good actor, and he's refreshingly frank and honest. But this out-of-control a$$holish behavior has to stop. I really hope the judge in this case sentences him to Anger Management therapy. It would do him a world of good.
