Who knew bunnies were so complicated?
I'm taking care of a friend's bunny while she's on vacation. This is one of about fifteen rules I got from her:

4. If you take him out, he may try to hump your feet. This too is recent, and there are a few tricks to avoid this. First of all, don't wear white socks - these look like bunnies. Secondly, if he starts attacking your feet or something else, don't move too much - he finds this sexy and will only try to hump you more. Finally, he has a toy, which is a stuffed dog wrapped in a white sock. You can divert his attention to this, and if he wants to hump, hopefully he'll stick to his sock friend and not you.

I'm babysitting a bunny with a sock fetish. I'm a little worried about this... :scared:

3. At least she warned you
You might have been traumatized if you believed you alone were responsible for inciting all that bunny lust.}(

4. Don't worry about the bunny sock fetish
One of my little bunnies used to attack my husband's feet when he wore wool socks. Just used to grab at them with his little paws -- looked like he was boxing. Never humped them tho'.

Weird but cute.

Good luck bun-sitting! Give him/her a little scritch on the head for me!

:hi:

14. Yeah, he went after my socks.
The worst thing was when he bit right through the critter proof wrap on the pnone line. I was on the internet and was suddenly disconnected. I started cursing the computer, but it was the rabbit.

19. Was having phone troubles once
AT&T blaming Verizon and vice versa.

After over 90 minutes talking to at least 12 different people, I finally reached a guy who said "I think I've found out your problem" (of course I hadn't gotten his name yet, or his direct #)

Dead silence.

"What, what's the problem?"

Dead silence.

Look over, and there's the kitten, with the cord in her mouth, looking at me like "What?"

17. Ah. Well...
You may notice the little fuzzbutt occasionally sticks his cute head down between his legs and then comes up munching on something...

He's consuming cecal pellets, which is sort of like a cow chewing its cud. Cecal pellets are produced in the cecum, where food is initially digested--they're very rich in vitamin D and pantothenic acid. Once produced, the cecals travel down the GI tract to the anus, where the bunny CONSUMES THEM DIRECTLY AS THEY EXIT.

It's best not to cuddle the bunny immediately after he's had a cecal snack. Unlike normal bunny poops, cecals are not odorless--in fact, they smell AWFUL and cause a temporary condition called cecal breath. Life is complete without experiencing that...

Complex little devils, as you observe. But cute! :loveya:

She told me they eat their own poop, so I was prepared for that. But thanks for the extra info! This should be a fun week.

20. Just don't piss him off...
Bunnies have anal scent glands that they use to aggressively mark territory or annoy those who annoy them. They're not as powerful or long-lasting as skunks, but you'd definitely take notice.

Additionally, anything he rubs with his chin belongs to him.

All in all, though, they're pretty peaceful critters who like to sleep and eat and be fawned upon. We've always loved having our bunnies around.

With her travel schedule, my friend couldn't get her bunny de-nadded before she left. But he has an appointment soon after she gets back.
